Rarity & Drops

ChessVS cards come in four rarities. Every pack type's exact drop rates are published in-game and are identical for everyone.

The four rarities

RarityLookDurabilitySeason-end behaviour
CommonBase club artwork8 gamesFully consumed
RareEnhanced finish14 gamesFully consumed
EpicPremium treatment20 games50% of remaining uses carry over
OmegaAnimated, holographic30 games100% carries over

The ability on a card is the same across all four rarities — rarity changes durability, combat stats, visual treatment, and season-end longevity, not what the card does.

The pity system

So a long unlucky streak never ruins your experience, ChessVS tracks a pity counter:

If you open......this happens
8 packs with no EpicYour 8th pack guarantees an Epic
50 packs with no OmegaYour 50th pack guarantees an Omega

Each counter resets after it triggers. You can check your own pity counts at any time.

Club packs

During a season, Club Packs boost the drop rate for that season's spotlight club. The exact boost is published with each Club Pack release. All other mechanics — pity, base rates — stay the same.

Colorways

Each Battle Card is a single card that renders in two colorways — a light (white-side) and a dark (black-side) treatment of the same artwork. You never own two separate cards. In a live match your card shows in your side's colour; everywhere else (your collection, the marketplace, card reveals) the light colorway is the canonical face.

Seasonal drops — Spotlight Pack & Legend Drop

Each season's spotlight is bookended: a 7-day Club Spotlight Pack opens the spotlight season, and the Legend Drop — a prestige collectible awarded to the spotlight club's top-ranked player at season's end — closes it.

New clubs debut in pairs: both clubs of a two-season Arc release their card sets together at the start of the Arc's first season (a Pair Collection Drop), rather than every club's cards arriving at once.
